On Monday 15 March 2010, the cream of the travel marketing profession were definitely in the pink! In a sell out evening, the winners of The Travel Marketing Awards went home with CIMTIG's much coveted Cubes.
There were double the number of Gold rated winners than last year, which not only raised the bar on entry standards, but also ensured a nail biting wait for winners' names to be announced. In fact, one category scored so highly that even the Runner Up had a Gold rating! Hugely disappointing for the company pipped at the post, but the higher entry standards are testament to higher industry standards which is good news for everyone.
Before the final three Campaign Awards were announced, the award winning singer / comedian Tim Minchin brought the house down with his wickedly clever songs about love, marriage and carrier bags ... and a bit of ad hoc musical ribbing about travel marketing thrown in for luck!
Ensuring everything ran smoothly was Master of Ceremonies Alastair Stewart OBE, ably assisted by the invisible Alan Dedicoat, better known as the Voice of the Balls on the National Lottery Draw. As you'd expect, Alan's trademark voice remained disembodied from the rest of him and guests went home none the wiser about what he looks like!
Your challenge is to devise marketing, advertising and integrated campaigns that are even more innovative, creative and successful in time for The Travel Marketing Awards 2011! (Click here to be notified when the call for entries opens later this year)
